Spellbound is a standalone urban fantasy/paranormal romance novel by Marcus Atley. It tells the story of two men – Stavros (a cambion – half-demon child of an incubus) and Elion (an elf). They are both supernatural cops and forced to be partners together to reign in Stavros’ fiery temper. When Elion’s presence clearly does nothing to temper Stavros’ aggression, their boss performs a spell on them that leaves them magically bound to one another and unable to be separated from each other by more than a few feet. An unlikely friendship develops as they solve a series of murders over a jewel, and soon they both begin falling for the other.
This is a fun, entertaining love story full of magical creatures and some really cute moments. At first, I found Stavros’ character hard to stomach, but the sweet ending made everything worth it. And it’s only $2.99 on Amazon.
Warnings: Some side characters use homophobic slurs, there are discussions of partner abuse, and a graphic torture sequence involving threat of rape.
